Earthing Shoes – Learn More Here
You may have heard about the benefits of earthing – balancing the electrons in your body with that of the ground by going barefoot outside. It’s not just some yuppie thing that calls up images of barefoot young hippie women.

It’s a way to discharge some of the electrons that build up in our bodies through contact with our increasing contact with electronics and decreasing contact with the ground through insulating rubber or plastic shoes.
Buying Options for Earthing Shoes!
The most popular, and best place to buy earthing shoes is at Earthrunners.com. They have by far the best Selection.
If you’ve regularly gone barefoot for the sake of trying this, you probably like earthing for the way it helps you reduce the effects of migraines and other ailments that might be exacerbated by overexposure to electromagnetic fields.
However, you’re not so keen on possibly stepping directly into a big pile of dog doo that some jerk left behind after taking his dog for a walk or picking up some nasty diseases or parasites from the ground.
That does happen every once in a while and the results are never pleasant.Sometimes earthing might get a little getting used to if society’s insistence on wearing rubber or plastic shoes is very firmly ingrained in your mind. (Don’t worry about it. It took a bit to get used to feeling grass between my toes, too.)
There are even many situations where the “No shirt, no shoes, no service” rule applies and you want to wear the shoes to avoid possible humiliation.
That’s where products like earthing shoes come in. They can give you all the benefits of earthing while helping you look presentable in public without risking getting thrown out of an establishment for being barefoot.
You take earthing seriously, but not everybody is going to trust anything that doesn’t come out of the mouths of physicians who tend to be skeptical about anything that isn’t backed by numerous clinical studies.
That means shoes that are basically designed to act as a kind of “ground” between your feet and the earth are generally a good compromise when you want people to take you seriously.
Earthing shoes often come in the form of sandals or moccasins that are designed to let electrons flow freely between the ground and your feet. When you work with electronics for most of the day, these shoes can make you look presentable (or at least like a stereotypical sandal-wearing Linux geek!) when you’re out in public.
These are what you wear when you’re around electromagnetic fields for at least eight hours a day and you want to discharge the electrons as fast as they get absorbed by your body. None of these shoes are made for athletic activities like jogging, but when your job requires you to sit at a desk for most of the day, they tend to do all right.
Most good grounding shoes are made using leather or hide to provide a better flow of electrons. This might put you in a bit of a quandary if you’re also into a vegan lifestyle, but that’s what is pretty much available when it comes to earthing shoes. If that sounds like you, earthing shoes can contain special devices and inserts that wick the electrons away from your feet the same way that some socks can wick sweat away.
There are even some people who make their own earthing shoes. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t really need to be a master shoemaker to do this even though most of them will tell you that the first pair they tried to make didn’t exactly come out perfectly. It just requires a bit of experience in working with leather and an ability to keep a straight stitch even though you’re working in three dimensions.
This extra dimension tends to add a level of complexity that most people who do a lot of crafting with a sewing machine aren’t really used to, but some people have made passable, if ugly, earthing shoes on their own.
There are Youtube videos that will show you how to make your own shoes if you can get your hands on the right materials. For a fit that won’t kill your feet, get a friend to trace outlines of your feet on pieces of cardboard or the leather you intend to cut the soles out of before you even start. Expect to mess up the first couple of pairs of shoes you try to make, because there’s a reason why making shoes by hand used to be the exclusive province of master shoemakers. This kind of thing takes practice.
Seriously, though, you can find some good shoes for the purpose of earthing if you know where to look. You might find some pairs at the place where you normally buy your “alternative” health products or search online for “earthing shoes” to find some good places to buy them.
Make sure you buy from sellers who know what they’re talking about when they discuss “earthing” or “grounding,” though, because it’s very easy to either exaggerate the benefits of grounding beyond the positive effects you may have already noticed since you started earthing on a regular basis, or dismiss it as a fad thing that still lingers from the days when hippies used to run around barefoot but, sure, they’ll sell you the shoes.
If you can, go with a seller that doesn’t mind if you try on several pairs and ask a lot of questions about the shoes, and also offers a pretty good return policy so you can try them for a while to see how well they work for you.
Seriously, I don’t have anything about hippies, but in the 21st century, society tends to look at anything associated with the hippie generation as something that should have gone out with the 1960s. That includes full grown adults going barefoot and trying to make that into some kind of statement, when they could at least look like a modern Linux geek who wears a respectable pair of sandals. You can still ground without looking like a hippie if you go with the earthing shoes.
